  39. That's the real reason I bought my ST -- because I read some half-baked
  40. rumor in an Atari magazine based on an offhand comment from an Atari

  42. make mine obsolete. (Sheesh!)

  76. The STacy is overdue, but I don't think I'm going to pee all over myself
  77. because of it. I have not seen any announcement from Atari of the U.S.
  78. availability of the STE or the TT (MegaStation). They'll be here when
  79. they're here. Go take a valium, or study Zen, or something.

  110. Strange about the previous comment about the MAX speed of the "fully
  111. loaded" ATW being only 10MIPS, since all the specs I've seen quote the
  112. STOCK ATW as being 10MIPS and that each additional transputer card
  113. installed (up to a limit) adds 7.5MIPS....

  140. I sincerely hope that you have better luck with the Postal Inspector than
  141. I did (read that as *NO* help at all!).  I got stung by Hippo for an
  142. EPROM programmer that never did work.  They ended up with the programmer
  143. and about $200 of my cash, and the Postal Inspector was of *ABSOLUTELY*
  144. no help.  We exchanged correspondence for about 6-8 months (with some
  145. up close and personal interactions as well), and that was enough time
  146. for Hippo to be totally gone, with no hope to recover any of my losses.

  148. I do suspect, however, that you may have slightly better luck getting
  149. your ounce (I guess I should say pound ;-)) of flesh from CMI, since
  150. they still sell in the Amiga market as well (unless they've really
  151. gone belly up).

  170. For the time being, any time you swap disk, be sure to either press the
  171. ESC key or click on the top shaded bar of the item selector before
  172. saving/reading to the new floppy. This forces a directory update of the
  173. newly-inserted disk and will be a nice work-around until you can get to
  174. a hardware solution.

  223.   Hi there. I'm trying to write a C application for the ST that copies a
  224. raster block from a 32K buffer to the screen. According to the Laser C
  225. documentation, all I need is:

  233.   Problem is, I can't get it to work. I've verified that my MFDBs are set up
  234. properly (they work fine with vro_cpyfm()). I've tried setting the various
  235. line-a variables, to no effect. I'm out of ideas, and I need help.

  237.   If anyone knows how to get this to work, I'd appreciate you writing a reply,
  238. either by e-mail or by post. An actual example would be especially welcome.

  257. Flash is GEM-based?  Right.  Yeah, sure, you can summon up the menu
  258. bar -- as long as you don't mind losing your terminal emulation screen
  259. while you do so.  Flash is a refugee from the IBM PC world of user
  260. interfaces, not a real GEM program.  You want a GEM terminal emulation
  261. program?  Get ST-Talk Pro.  It's cheap, and it's a real GEM program.

  263. Disclaimer:  I don't have any connection w/the ST-Talk people; I just
  264. get disgusted with programmers who throw in a single menu bar or some
  265. cutesy dialog boxes and think that they have written a GEM program.
